The problem

Millions of US employees need headshots. Taking them is a massive pain.

The market gap that Studio Pod was built to close. Three reasons companies keep procrastinating their headshot refresh - each one a friction point Studio Pod removes.

Time consuming

Finding + hiring a quality photographer.

Most companies are not in the photography business. Vetting freelancers, scheduling shoot days, coordinating around department calendars - hours of overhead per refresh cycle. Studio Pod replaces the photographer with a self-serve booth that runs on the employee's schedule.

Resource intensive

Coordinating thousands of spread-out employees.

Five-office multi-city teams + post-pandemic remote workforce = the shoot-day model doesn't scale. Even when the photographer arrives, the no-show rate destroys throughput. Studio Pod runs unattended at every location simultaneously, including via the StudioGo SaaS for fully-distributed teams.

Inconsistent quality

Different photographers · different output.

Year-over-year refreshes done by different photographers produce a brand-incoherent corporate-team page. Inconsistent backdrops, lighting recipes, and crop ratios show up at the surface where the photo gets judged. Studio Pod's brand-locked configuration ships one image standard across the whole org, every year.

Defensible moat

Patented TrueTone(TM) lighting. Built for every skin tone.

The technical moat that justifies the price premium over an iPad-on-a-stand competitor. TrueTone lighting was engineered specifically to render skin tones accurately across the full range - solving the single-light-source failure mode where dark skin reads as 'low contrast' and light skin reads as 'blown out.' Every subject photographs against the same calibrated lighting recipe.

  • Patented multi-source DMX rig. Eight 2-foot LED tubes, four independent dimmer channels, lighting recipe baked in. Invented by working photographers after a decade of corporate shoot days exposed the single-source-light problem.
  • Color-accurate across all skin tones. The technology measures skin color in real time and adjusts lighting + camera settings to produce a more natural, accurate photo. Matters at the multi-thousand-employee scale corporate buyers operate at.
  • Built by photographers, not engineers. Joseph West + Chris Bailey shot portraits for 30+ years before they engineered a single piece of hardware. Every design choice comes from the craft. Hard to replicate by a tech-operator competitor.
  • Real Canon DSLR, not consumer hardware. 24-megapixel Canon EOS 80D with a 24mm Canon EF prime. Print-ready output at 300 dpi. The product moat is the gear behind the curtain, not the booth around it.
Revenue model

Four revenue streams. One unit-economics moat.

Studio Pod's business model is engineered for diversification + scalability. Four distinct revenue streams that share the same hardware + brand + retoucher pool. Each stream feeds the next: retail proves the product, subscription extends ARR, rental + pod sales scale ACV.

01 · Retail

Headshot Lounges.

Eight permanent walk-in studios across Texas, Illinois, and California. $50/session, fifteen high-res finals delivered before the customer leaves the room. Lowest-friction acquisition channel + the wedge that proves the product to corporate buyers who can walk in and try it before they commit.

02 · Subscription

Corporate Unlimited Plan.

Annual subscription. Companies get unrestricted access to the Headshot Lounges for their entire team. Recurring revenue with built-in retention - corporate customers who use the plan once typically renew because the alternative (booking a photographer per refresh) is more expensive and slower.

03 · Rental

Studio Pod Direct.

The Roadie portable studio. Ships UPS to any US venue, sets up in five minutes, runs at conferences + corporate events + multi-office refresh days. Flat day rates with unlimited headshots. Doubles the addressable customer base by reaching the team that can't all walk into a physical studio.

04 · Capital sale

Pod Sales.

Direct sale of S1 ($16,950+) and S3 ($33,000+) Studio Pods to corporate buyers, BOMA-managed properties, and university campuses for permanent install. Higher-ACV, longer cycle, but ongoing software + service contract attaches a recurring revenue tail to every unit sold.

Corporate roster

100% corporate client retention. Names that matter.

The validation that the unit economics work at the enterprise tier. Every corporate customer who's deployed Studio Pod has renewed. Some of the named accounts from the corporate roster Studio Pod has served:

  • Dell. Enterprise corporate refresh.
  • Shell. Houston HQ + global rollout.
  • ConocoPhillips. Multi-year corporate program.
  • UBS. Financial services partner-page roster.

Plus Fortune-100 corporations, top-20 universities, hospital networks, real-estate brokerages, and the largest commercial real-estate operators in the US. Many use Studio Pod as the standard headshot system across their entire workforce.

Growth thesis

Six years of compounding execution. The same wedge keeps widening.

From the Q1 2020 launch through the Republic raise to today, every revenue dimension is up. The TAM has not shrunk - corporate headshot need is structurally recurring, the alternative (hire a photographer) is structurally expensive + slow, and the moat (patented lighting + 30-year photography heritage + Houston-built manufacturing) is structurally hard to copy.

At raise · 2020

100K headshots · $320K rev · 66% YoY.

Q1 2020 launch. Single Houston walk-in studio + early corporate roster. Trailing-12-month revenue $320K, growth 66% YoY, 100K cumulative headshots delivered. The seed-stage thesis: this thing works in Houston; it can work everywhere.

Today · 2026

300K+ headshots · 41K+ customers · 8 studios.

Eight walk-in studios across three states. Ten-unit Roadie nationwide fleet. Six solution-vertical pages: badging, government ID, employee headshots, healthcare credentialing, university career centers, realtor brokerage, student IDs. Two sub-brands: FLEX and StudioGo. AI Headshots property.

Next

Pod sales. Annual programs. The remote layer.

Two long-cycle revenue streams currently scaling: outright Pod Sales to enterprise + property-managed buildings (S1 $16,950+, S3 $33,000+) and the Long-term Annual program ($6K/yr + setup). Plus StudioGo as the SaaS layer for the distributed teams that can't all walk into a physical pod.
